The 2010 show follows on from the highly successful first ever Welsh Canoe and Kayak Show in 2009. The show will bring together a significant amount of paddling organisations, equipment suppliers and retailers under one 1/2 hectare section of South Wales sky. The majority of paddling distributed brands and their suppliers from the UK have already eagerly signed up to attend.

The Aims of the Show

  • to introduce people to the exciting atmosphere of the canoeing and kayaking world,
  • to introduce the vaste array of equipment that is currently available from as many distributors as possible,  
  • to allow people to try out and compare all the different boats they want on the River Ely which runs along the side of the venue,
  • to introduce existing paddlers to other spheres of paddling,
  • to highlight the new directions the sport is taking,
  • to showcase lots of brand new product that has never been seen before,
  • to encourage people to take their paddling further in terms of skills and travel,
  • to educate about the benefits that come from being involved with paddle sports
  • and finally to have great time and a laugh.

Entry is free for 2010 so you'd be mad not to come.

The show will comprise approximately 17 supplier stands of upto 200 msq with each hosting upto 20 different brands (Palm Equipment and Pyranha requiring the biggest stands and System X being the most brand diverse).

From across the different suppliers there will be over 200 different boats available for testing on the river next to the venue alongside other equipment including drysuits from at least one supplier (buoyancy aids and paddles will be available as well to make life a little safer and easier for you, but please feel free to bring your own kit to try the boats out with).

If you want to demo boats on the day, you will need to fill out a registration form and pay a £10 cash or cheque deposit (per person) on the day (cheques payable to Up & Under outdoor gear Ltd.). Deposits will be returned / cheques destroyed when you finish demoing the boats and return your unique number tag to the registration stand. Registration forms can be printed out and filled in in advance by clicking here, please bring the form with you when you pay your deposit. Alternatively you can register online for fast track registration on the day.

Up and Under Watersports As well as paddling manufacturers, paddlesport related stalls,  entertainment stands, food stalls and displays the on-site retailer Up and Under Watersports will be open all day for all your paddlesports needs. They have promised that there will be a large number of promotions and offers available for the day of the show. As our main sponsors they will also be helping with the smooth running of the day via the use and manning of their pontoon and access to the river as well as stewarding the show.

Whats New

It will be the first time that some of the models of boats and other product on show will have been seen in the UK or indeed anywhere before, so even if you have a tried and trusted boat or two its worth coming along to see what is the state of the art.

Other Exhibitors

As well as the paddling brand stands there will be the on site retail stores of Up and Under Watersports and Force4 Marine Chandlery.

We have a number of Welsh outdoor activity suppliers exhibiting who will be able to talk to you about their courses for gaining skills, qualifications or travelling to some of the most serious water in the world with experienced, qualified instructors and extreme trip organisers.

Canoe Wales / Canw Cymru is the National Governing Body for the Sport in Wales. Canoe Wales will be present at the event to pass on information about getting started in this fantastic sport, clubs in your area, competition and developing your paddling.

Prize Draw

The Welsh Canoe and Kayak Show are holding a raffle/prize draw with a large proportion of the ticket sales being donated to the RNLI. There are some truely awesome prizes available that have been very generously donated by many of the shows exhibitors.

First Prize is an Emotion Kayaks Comet, paddle and buoyancy kindly donated by White Water Consultancy. There will be lots of other great prizes provided by many of the exhibitors on the day.

Refreshments

First Cafes at the Welsh Canoe and Kayak Show First Cafés is one of the UK’s leading suppliers of catering solutions to many of the country’s major sporting, concert and festival events. They will be bringing along their Posh Fish and Chip unit and their Espresso Bar. The Posh Fish and Chip unit includes all day breakfasts, pies, fish, burgers, sausages and chips, tea, coffee, soft drinks and confectionary. The Venue

The Welsh Canoe and Kayak Show has come about since Up and Under outdoor gear Ltd. opened their watersports shop in the Cardiff Marine Village. This site has a number of complimentary retailers, manufacturers and services for watersports all situated around a large central yard. This yard has access directly to a wharf and launching pontoon on the Ely River just upstream from Cardiff Bay and the Cardiff International White Water Centre which will be open by April. With its easy access for all forms of transport this is an ideal venue to hold the event.
